Summary
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor to lead our clinical nursing team in the Operating room (2 rooms), pre‑op and PACU areas. This role requires a strong background in surgical nursing and leadership. The RN Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing nursing operations, ensuring compliance with clinical protocols, and fostering a supportive and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
- Ensures delivery of surgical care in accordance with Standards of Nursing Practice, Patient Bill of Rights, and Nursing and Institutional Policies.
- Identifies and resolves issues concerning patient care, needs, and satisfaction. Monitors patient satisfaction survey and takes appropriate action when indicated.
- Maximizes surgical productivity through efficient systems and effective delegation of duties.
- Assigns duties and evaluates nursing activities to ensure patient care, staff relations, and efficiency of services.
- Accepts accountability for own and delegated nursing actions.
- Manages nursing staff and evaluates performance as required. Responsible for annual reviews, annual employee competencies, and maintains up‑to‑date employee files.
- Participates in Quality Assurance Program and all necessary committees, including the Infection Control Committee. Responsible for quarterly reviews such as fire drills.
- Develops, reviews, and revises all policies, procedures and documents required for compliance and maintains licensure and certification. Communicates changes to staff at least annually.
- Uses creative ideas and innovative approaches to develop quality/performance improvement programs. Develops annual Performance Improvement Project.
- Develops staffing schedules to ensure appropriate departmental coverage. Monitors work utilization, overtime, and time & attendance of all assigned staff members.
- Develops tools to monitor efficiency, such as turnover rates, LOS, OR utilization, and chart preparation.
- Maintains inventory of all surgical and pharmaceutical supplies for the surgery center and delegates responsibilities appropriately.
- Directs preparation and maintenance of patients’ medical records.
- Participates in recruitment for hiring new staff, including screening resumes and conducting interviews.
- Organizes and participates in new hire onboarding and ongoing training of staff.
- Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients; responds to emergency situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures and protocol.
- Conducts monthly meetings with staff, covering new policies, procedures, equipment, education, and research. Provides weekly email updates to the team.
- Involved in conflict resolution when situations arise. Conducts annual 1:1 meetings with employees.
- Identified as an electronic medical record super‑user and participates in all related training and super‑user expectations.
- Reviews research project updates at least once per quarter.
- Attends and participates in research project initiation meetings when requested.
- Notifies appropriate surgical staff of upcoming research surgeries.
- Oversees research patient’s care throughout the perioperative process. Ensures all necessary equipment and documentation is present and completed.
- Ensures proper coding technique, such as linking diagnosis to procedure and documenting patient chief complaint.
- Supervises coding by staff to ensure accuracy and completeness. Distributes coding information to appropriate personnel.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the department.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with MEC’s policies and applicable laws.
- Includes, but is not limited to, budgeting, hiring, performance reviews, employee development, approving timecards, planning, assigning and directing work, pay recommendations, coaching, counseling, discipline, addressing issues and concerns, facilitating conflict resolution, modeling MEC’s code of conduct and mission commitments at all times.

Education And/Or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing
- At least five years OR/perioperative experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Supervisory or management experience required.
