Clinical Nurse III – Special Progressive Care Unit
Join UNC Health as a Clinical Nurse III in our Special Progressive Care Unit on a full‑time 36‑hour evening schedule. The unit serves Nash, Edgecombe, Halifax and Wilson counties with a mission to improve community health through exceptional, compassionate care.
Responsibilities
- Participate in nursing education for self and patients, assessing readiness to learn and applying patient education materials.
- Identify expected patient outcomes, revise plans of care, and evaluate patient care with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex problems; perform bedside point of care testing, prioritize care, and consult resources for high‑risk discharge planning.
- Develop goals for professional growth, achieve objectives within time frames, and promote intra‑department collaboration.
- Recognize data from complex situations to determine priorities; synthesize assessment data, anticipate discharge needs, and build relationships with families.
- Collaborate with patients/families to prepare or update the plan of care, incorporate multidisciplinary resources, and address cultural and ethnic issues.
- Read journals and bring ideas to staff for evidence‑based practice.
Other Information
- Education Requirements: Graduation from a professional nursing school.
- Licensure/Certification Requirements: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Professional Experience Requirements: One year of nursing experience.
