Key Responsibilities
- Design, supervise, and facilitate hands-on forensic laboratory experiments that promote student engagement and mastery of key concepts.
- Calibrate and maintain cutting-edge forensic instruments to ensure accurate, high-quality lab results.
- Serve as the Chemical Hygiene Officer, upholding best practices in laboratory safety and environmental responsibility.
- Conduct proactive monthly lab inspections and lead efforts to resolve safety issues and equipment eficiencies.
- Maintain a digital reporting system for lab safety audits and incident tracking across all university labs.
- Chair the Laboratory Safety Committee and lead campus-wide lab safety training initiatives.
- Manage inventory, prepare reagents and chemical solutions, and ensure cleanliness and readiness of lab spaces.
- Ensure all lab activities comply with federal, state, and institutional safety regulations.
What We're Looking For
- Education: Master's degree in forensic science, chemistry, biology, or a closely related physical science (required).
- Experience: At least one year in a professional laboratory setting, preferably involving instrument calibration or lab safety roles.
- Skills:
- Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Office and lab data management software.
- Analytical mindset with solid math and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to safety and compliance.
