Staff Nurse - Renal Home Training
at Berkshire Health Systems
Includes on call by assignment and rotation to Hemodialysis unit(s).
Definition of a Registered Nurse (RN) role includes providing nursing care, health maintenance, teaching, counseling, planning and restoration for optimal functioning and comfort. The RN also leads patient-centered, goal-oriented care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
Primary Functions
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Thorough knowledge of nursing principles and procedures.
- Prior experience in nephrology nursing/dialysis preferred.
- At least one year's experience in critical care nursing preferred.
- Two years of medical/surgical nursing required.
- Previous training and education in nephrology nursing/dialysis techniques required.
- At least one year experience in critical care nursing or one year experience in medical/surgical nursing required.
Education and Training
- Associate's Degree in Nursing. BSN preferred.
- Successful completion of the critical care course and arrhythmia course required.
Licenses, Certifications & Registration
- RN License — Currently licensed as an RN in Massachusetts.
- BLS.
- Certification as a Nephrology Nurse preferred.
- Certification in hemodialysis nursing and/or Nephrology nursing preferred.
Other Requirements
- Continuing education in accordance with State regulations. Assures compliance with unit-specific scope of practice.
- Must be able to speak English with understandable manner.
- Must possess sufficient sight/hearing and use of prosthetics to meet requirements.
