Overview
ECU Health Medical Center is a 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. It has Magnet® designation and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to a 29-county region that is home to more than 1.4 million people.
Position Summary
Serves as a knowledge and resource expert for Patient Access Representatives. Responsible for assisting with the supervision of staff and supporting management with various functions related to all patient registration activities including patient reception, face-to-face registration, insurance verification, financial counseling, cash collections, chart reconciliation and patient discharge. Individual must demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of the registration process and ensure that the team completes the work in a timely fashion. Provides support to an organizational culture that delivers high-quality service excellence to all customer groups. Acts as primary liaison for patients receiving professional and hospital services.
Minimum Requirements
- High School or Equivalent (GED) or higher is required
- Associate Degree: preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree: preferred
- 4 - 5 years of registration/insurance verification and scheduling experience in EPIC, or other EHR systems within a hospital or medical office environment; customer service experience is required
- Associates Degree can substitute for 2 years of registration/insurance verification and scheduling experience in EPIC or other EHR system within a hospital or medical office environment; customer service experience is required
Required
- Excellent communication (both written and oral), detail orientation, organization, and multitasking skills
- Proficient computer skills; Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word and Excel)
Preferred
- Experience with EPIC and medical office workflows
- Insurance Verification Experience
Other Information
- Days: 40 hours per week between 5am to 7pm with some weekend and holiday rotation
