Responsibilities

  • Perform nutritional assessment and intervention for acute care hospitalized patients.
  • Recommend appropriate medical nutrition therapy based on diagnosis, nutrition-focused physical examination, and overall health status.
  • Identify the proper nutrition regimen and place orders in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Communicate plan of care to all responsible parties.
  • Educate staff, patients, families, and significant others on the nutrition plan of care.
  • Document findings, orders, and interventions in the EHR.
  • Contribute to departmental achievements through process improvement and adherence to evidence-based guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or related field (Bachelor of Science in Nutrition – BSNT preferred).
  • Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN).
  • CDR Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RD/RDN).
  • Board certification in a nutrition-related specialty OR a Master’s degree or higher.
  • Direct patient care experience in a hospital clinical setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, critical thinking, basic computer skills, and service-excellence mindset.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a hospital clinical setting.
