Responsibilities
- (40%)* Installs, configures and manages network servers and associated peripheral equipment. Monitors and manages network server performance and resource utilization; projects future utilization and recommends capacity and upgrade approaches.
- (40%)* Plans, implements, and manages overall network operating system infrastructure. Assists in administration of various enterprise-wide network infrastructure services; such as Active Directory, Citrix services, virtualization, server virus protection, clustering services, backup systems and various naming, registration, and address assignment systems. Plans and implements integration approaches with other systems.
- (20%)* Works closely with vendors and others to install, configure, and implement vendor supplied and supported applications. Prepares equipment and software configurations for network server-based applications to meet needs of applications and users consistent with established organizational standards and practices.
Manages various enterprise-wide network server services, such as server virus protection, clustering services, backup systems, Intranet and mail servers, etc.
Oversees user administration tasks for network servers. Administers network server resource security and controls user access to applications; ensures that security procedures are documented, communicated, and enforced.
Establishes, documents, communicates, and monitors compliance with policies, procedures, and standards relating to the use, operation, and deployment of network servers.
Develops and tests disaster recovery plan for network servers and applications. Develops and implements disaster protection and backup and recovery strategies appropriate to applications and consistent with user needs.
Investigates opportunities and develops proposals to take advantage of network and computing technologies that best meet needs of organization. Leads and participates on project teams to implement projects throughout organization.
Consults with users, IT department, and others in organization on network server functions and capabilities and other areas of expertise. Trains others on server and associated equipment operations and related topics.
Assists in installation of network infrastructure components, such as routers, hubs, switches, communication devices, cabling, etc. Troubleshoots network-related communication and configuration problems.

Certifications and Licensures
N/A
Required Education
Associate's Degree in Information Systems or related field is required.
Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or related field is preferred.
Other Information
Experience, Training And Skills
Minimum three (3) years in information systems required.
Minimum one (1) year of in-depth experience managing enterprise-level Windows servers and related environment administration experience is required.
Current Microsoft Or Other Pertinent Industry Certification Are Preferred.
Expertise in Microsoft technologies, network protocols and topologies, server hardware and associated equipment, top-level troubleshooting skills, health care industry familiarity, and Unix experience are preferred.
Ability to learn independently and communicate effectively, good writing skills and excellent troubleshooting skills are required.
Tuberculosis (TB) testing must be done as needed.
Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must also be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
Physical/Mental Requirements And Typical Working Conditions
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
