Overview
CAM Programmer II (Manufacturing Engineering) – Plans numerical control program to control CNC turret press by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes CAD model, drawings, sketches, and design data of part, to determine production requirements.
- Computes angular and linear dimensions, radii, and outline of sequence of operations, required to develop flat dimension requirements.
- Simulate and verify tool sequencing and or cut paths to ensure quality and collision-free operations.
- Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software (e.g. Solidworks, AP100US).
- Generate shop drawings and process set-up sheets, to guide setup and operation of machine.
- Maintain organized documentation for programs, setup sheets, and tool lists.
- Collaborate with machinists and production personnel to improve processes.
- Supports troubleshooting and problem-solving during setup and production runs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in cycle time reduction and process reliability.
- Revises program to eliminate instruction errors or omissions.
- Orders tooling for CNC turret press. Maintains master log for all soft tool punches.
Education and Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be familiar with Solidworks, Turret and Laser cutting systems and CNC programming platforms.
- AP100US, a plus.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift materials up to 35 lbs., stand and/or sit for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks on a computer.
Working Conditions
- This role involves working in a production environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, toe and hearing protection is required.
