Overview

Direct-hire opportunity. The end client isn’t able to provide sponsorship. This role requires 4 days a week onsite in Tampa, FL 33614. Candidates must have experience with FortiGate and Cisco.

Position Description

Our client is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join their growing team. The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, configuration, implementation, and monitoring of enterprise network solutions, standards, and processes. This role collaborates across engineering teams to identify and manage project milestones, ensuring network reliability and performance across the organization.

Must Have

  • Experience in enterprise-scale network design, implementation, and support.
  • Strong routing (BGP in data center environments).
  • Cisco Access 9000 & 8500 routers/switches; spine-leaf with VXLAN.
  • FortiGate firewall setup & security rules.
  • Data center migration experience.
  • Active professional-level Cisco cert (CCNP).

Nice to Have

  • AWS or other cloud networking exposure.
  • Network automation (Python/Ansible).

Ideal Candidate

  • Highly motivated self-starter, eager to learn new technologies independently.
  • Hands-on engineer for configuration/deployment, not just troubleshooting.
  • Ready to "hit the ground running" with multiple projects.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and implement new network technologies to address gaps and improve performance, capacity, and scalability.
  • Lead day-to-day networking operations to ensure high availability and serviceability.
  • Provide technical support, resolve tickets, and perform incident response including root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Install and configure networking hardware, LAN switches, Wi-Fi, and firewalls.
  • Maintain detailed network architecture documentation and drawings.
  • Support compliance, risk management, and network monitoring efforts.
  • Deploy and manage SD-WAN and related infrastructure.
  • Coach and mentor network/technical support staff while collaborating with vendors and cross-functional teams.
  • Plan future strategies to maintain high network performance.
