Solve complex problems related to infrastructure cloud services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence.

Design, write, and deploy software to improve the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Oracle products and services.

Design and develop designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large‑scale distributed systems.

Facilitate service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning.

We are seeking a highly skilled Site Reliability Engineer with expertise in database administration and strong development capabilities. You will be responsible for engineering and operational management of a massively scaled Oracle database fleet, troubleshooting staging/production environments, and ensuring high availability of services. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving operational challenges through code and automation while enhancing system reliability, scalability, and efficiency. As an SRE, you will work closely with cross‑functional teams, providing technical leadership, handling escalations, and taking ownership of operational service delivery.

We are aggressively building high scale public cloud technologies from the ground up – Compute, Storage, Networking, Governance, Database, and Load Balancing Services. If you’re a database engineer with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems for highly available services at massive scale, we are currently seeking Oracle Database Engineer Specialists.

Responsibilities

  • Provide all activities related to the engineering and operational management of a massively scaled Oracle database fleet.
  • Project long‑range requirements for database management and design in conjunction with other service owners in the Oracle Cloud ecosystem.
  • Conduct quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.
  • Design, implement and maintain complex databases, access methods, access time, devise allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security.
  • Work with the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team on the collection of services and/or technology areas.
  • Understand the end‑to‑end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioural characteristics of production services.
  • Design and deliver the mission‑critical stack, with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance.
  • Partner with development teams in defining and implementing improvements in service architecture.
  • Act as the ultimate escalation point for complex or critical issues that have not yet been documented as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Utilize a deep understanding of service topology and their dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations.
  • Understand and explain the effect of product architecture decisions on distributed systems.

Qualifications

  • Possess knowledge of performing detailed performance analysis, tuning and diagnostics for Oracle 19c Databases.
  • Possess leadership experience to assure appropriate changes, upgrades, and enhancements are made based on the technical analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field work.
  • Eight or more years of experience in Oracle Database Engineering.
  • Deep understanding and expertise in database management features.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in an extremely fast‑paced and challenging environment.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $86,400 – $199,500 per year. May be eligible for bonus and equity. Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

This role requires participation in on‑call rotation.

Certifications: Certain US customer or client‑facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization and occupational health mandates.
