Technical Architect - Networking at Heartland Business Systems
Develop, implement, and support network services and solutions for consulting clients while mentoring and sharing skills with others. Build a customer-focused relationships to identify business challenges and develop specifications and requirements to arrive at the best solution.

Roles and Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Collaborate with Practice Leads to create and maintain documents and procedures.
- Execute large projects on time and on budget with Project Managers and Practice Leads.
- Provide active leadership and articulate to the Project Management Team what is needed for success and lead other Engineers to ensure tasks are completed accurately and timely.
- Serve as the Lead Engineer on projects with multiple different technologies.
- Provide daily updates on all projects and proactive communication to all parties on timelines, hours, resources, concerns, etc.
- Facilitate collaboration between different business units to provide a world‑class experience for the customer.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and take a leadership role in team and customer meetings.
- Contribute to product selection and research, configuration standards and best practices and educate sales teams on these products and services.
- Work in a team atmosphere between regional and virtual practices while maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor.
- Maintain current vendor/industry-specific certifications and stay current on new products and solutions.
- Continue to grow personally following the Engineering Skills Matrix, improving skill set around project experience, leadership, certifications and technical expertise.
- Minimum of 1,450 billed hours per fiscal year prorated based on start date.

Required Experience
- 5+ years in a technical related field.
Preferred Experience
- 6–8 years in a technical related field.
- 4+ years experience working as a Consultant.
Required Skills, Education and/or Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent certifications.
- At least two or more professional‑level certifications (CCNP, CCP‑V, VCAP‑DCV, MCA).
- Experience designing and architecting network-based solutions.
- Installing and supporting Cisco or HP/Aruba network switching and routing products.
- IOS, IOS‑XR, NX‑OS experience and best practices.
- Routing protocols—OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, L2/L3 Architecture and Design, Multicast, QoS.
Preferred Skills, Education and/or Certifications
- CCNP, CCDP, CCIE, ACMP, ACCP, ACCX, ACEAP, MCE or equivalent level certifications.
- Installing and supporting Cisco or HP/Aruba network switching and routing products.
- IOS, IOS‑XR, NX‑OS experience and best practices.
- Cisco Nexus technologies such as VDC, vPC, VXLAN, etc.
- Routing protocols—OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, L2/L3 architecture & design, Multicast, QoS.
- Cisco ISR‑based VPN solutions such as FLEX‑VPN, GET‑VPN, DMVPN.
- Data Center/Core design, configuration, and implementation utilizing Cisco Nexus Architecture (9K, 7K, 6K, 5K, 3K, 2K, 1000V).
- Software‑Defined Networking (SDA, SD‑WAN).
- Cisco/Meraki/Aruba Wireless (including controllers).
- Design using Ekahau or similar product.
- High‑density manufacturing, office, education deployments.
- Familiarity or experience with Meraki, Citrix NetScaler ADC/SDWAN, Cisco ASA/FTD, Palo Alto firewalls and related technology.
- Additional core technologies such as Riverbed, OpenDNS, Infoblox, Cisco Optical, NetBrain, FireEye, SolarWinds, SPLUNK.
