Solutions Architect, Bureau of IT Application and Platform Engineering

The Division of Information Technology's mission is to promote and protect the health of all New Yorkers through innovative technology and health information. The Bureau of IT Application and Platform Engineering seeks a talented Solutions Architect to design, develop, and implement innovative IT solutions that address business challenges. You will work with stakeholders and technical teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Solution Design: Design and document technical solutions, including system architecture, data flows, and integration points. Develop end-to-end Azure-based solutions with emphasis on scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Requirement Analysis: Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications.
  • Technology Evaluation: Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI and cloud computing, to identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Implementation Oversight: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams, ensuring solutions align with architectural standards.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve complex technical issues to ensure seamless solution delivery.
  • Documentation: Create clear technical documentation to support solution design and implementation.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Architecture Governance: Establish and enforce architecture standards, best practices, and guidelines for Azure solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience with programming languages, databases, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • 3+ years as a Solutions Architect with a focus on Microsoft Azure solutions.
  • Proficiency in cloud engineering principles, DevOps practices, and automation tools.
  • Familiarity with IT architecture frameworks (TOGAF).
  • Extensive knowledge of Azure services (Azure DevOps, Logic Apps, Virtual Machines, Storage).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills; strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams; experience with hybrid cloud solutions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform (PowerApps, Power BI, Power Automate) and understanding of AI/ML technologies.
