Eblex Group are currently supporting a leading health insurer that is seeking multiple experienced COBOL Developers to support and extend complex, business-critical systems. The project will involve ongoing feature development in legacy environments with potential future migration to modern technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Further develop and maintain large COBOL-based systems in the insurance domain.
- Collaborate closely with business analysts and internal teams.
- Potential involvement in supporting migration/modernization strategies (e.g., transition to Java).
- Ensure compliance with evolving business requirements and customer needs.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in COBOL programming, ideally on large/critical financial or insurance systems.
- Experience in health insurance is highly preferred; insurance or financial domain considered.
- Ability to quickly understand and work with legacy codebases.
Nice-to-Have
- Background in the health sector or previous experience with health insurance clients.
- Experience working in transformation/migration projects (particularly COBOL to Java).
- Comfortable working with international and remote teams.
- German language skills preferred due to some German-language code, but strong English speakers will also be considered.
Work Arrangements & Compensation
- Positions are Permanent.
- Flexible working arrangements; remote work with occasional on-site presence (Frankfurt) possible.
- Competitive salary, based on experience, language skills, and location.
- Candidates to be based in Germany or Slovakia (Remote).
- Preference for candidates based in Germany or with German language skills. Nearshore EU also considered.
