Job Description

Kansas City Missouri School District is seeking a Dean of Culture and Climate to manage the culture metrics of the school, focusing on academics, social emotional well-being, and behavior. The Dean will collaborate with parents, students, and staff to resolve issues and improve school culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. School Culture and Climate: Enforce the vision of school culture, develop interventions for students, promote parental involvement, and evaluate school-wide events.
  2. Academic Culture: Track student credits and graduation requirements, develop communication systems for advisors, and evaluate students’ academic performance.
  3. Student Discipline/Behavior Management: Monitor behavior management strategies, serve as the point person for severe discipline issues, and ensure compliance with laws and policies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred or enrolled in a secondary school administrator program.
  • At least 5 years of experience with urban low-income students preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading adults preferred.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office and data entry.
  • A valid driver’s license and insurance.

  • Experience with at-risk youth in urban settings.

  • Commitment to success for all students.

Physical Demands

This job requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, and lift objects of at least ten pounds.

Terms of Employment

Length of work year: 200 days; Grant-funded position for 2020-2023. Benefits include retirement programs, health, dental, and life insurance.
