Job Summary

The Scheduling Specialist develops master program schedules for highly complex programs and proposals. This position acts as a key member of the Program Management Team and provides strong guidance to ensure that the schedules are developed in a logical and executable manner. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision‑making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews contractual requirements to ensure all essential labor and non‑labor elements are captured in the development of the schedule, including material, travel, and subcontractor costs.
  • Interfaces directly with Program Managers, functional managers, and support personnel to develop detailed baseline plans, schedules, and interrelationships for all program tasks.
  • Utilizes Gantt and Critical Path Method (CPM) network schedules for schedule development.
  • Performs maintenance and analyses of schedule baselines, including change control, status and forecasts, critical path analyses, and “what if” scenarios; identifies problems and potential problems and helps develop recovery plans.
  • Supports the proposal process by reviewing Requests for Proposals, developing schedules, and resource planning; may also write narrative on the schedule process for volume submittal.
  • Performs formal schedule risk analyses with Monte Carlo type analysis software; understands 3‑point estimates, loading, and reporting to management.
  • Prepares and executes the load of data files synchronized between the schedule and SAP.
  • Develops and presents schedule review documents and data to management and customers as required.
  • Employs generally accepted industry standard scheduling practices.
  • Works directly with PMs, CAMs, and PFOs to develop and maintain direct budgets/ETCs at activity level.
  • Assists with development of the WBS structure used within the schedule and SAP.
  • Displays exceptional understanding of earned value methods and status techniques.
  • Establishes strong working relationships between Engineering and Operations to develop a fully linked master schedule that links to ERAs, engineering drawings, BOM, long‑lead material, and production cycle.
  • Provides training, direction, and guidance to other schedulers and project team members as required.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Four‑year college degree in business administration, engineering, industrial engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Six (6+) years of experience in an engineering/manufacturing scheduling environment.
  • Strong knowledge of CPM, Gantt, and Line‑of‑Balance scheduling techniques.
  • Full understanding of various % complete methods and their applications.
  • Ability to develop complex master schedules following accepted scheduling principles.
  • Experience with PC‑based scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, Open Plan).
  • Experience with other software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Logical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on the computer for extended periods.
  • Can perform scheduling duties with little or no direct supervision.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills (communication, facilitation, teamwork).
  • Prior experience with SAP preferred.

Pay Range

$95,000.00 – $115,000.00* + benefits. *Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographic market to our highest geographic market. The pay range is a general guideline only and is not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
