About the Role
As a Department Manager, you’ll be the leader supporting and encouraging your whole team. You will ensure an excellent operational and visual experience for the store, customers, and colleagues, stay aware of strengths, opportunities, and competitors, analyze sales, and create plans to optimize results and profits.
A Day in the Life
Customer Sales & Profit
- You are responsible for the total OMNI customer experience in your store, ensuring visual and commercial curation according to global guidelines.
- Represent the H&M brand positively during customer interactions.
- Identify departmental strengths, commercial opportunities, and act on them.
- Establish and analyze sales and budget goals, creating plans to optimize results.
- Ensure customer service is provided in all areas of the store and that your team actively promotes and sells products.
- Follow up that your team promotes our Customer Loyalty App (Hello Member) and in‑store sustainability initiatives.
- Manage your department cost‑efficiently.
- Maintain correct routines in fitting rooms and checkout, including transactions, returns, and exchanges.
- Handle all administrative routines for people and operations correctly.
Fashion & Trend Awareness
- Keep up to date with fashion trends, styles, brands, products, competitors, and relevant influencers.
- Ensure your team provides product and fashion knowledge and other relevant information during customer interactions.
Team & Development
- Recruit, onboard, manage performance, upskill, and develop your team in‑store.
- Complete performance evaluations and succession planning to support business and team needs.
- Retain and share your knowledge and skills with the team.
- Collaborate, plan, and work with the Visual Merchandiser team.
- Give and receive feedback to learn, develop, and support each other.
- Plan and schedule the team.
- Communicate with store colleagues to inform, motivate, and inspire—daily and weekly meetings.
- Ensure all procedures, routines, and legal requirements in all areas of the store are followed.
- Participate in onboarding, introduction processes, training, and courses relevant to your role and future development.
Retail Operations / Visual & Commercial Execution
- Secure a clean and tidy sales floor and back‑of‑house, including stockroom areas.
- Present high‑fashion quality, visual, and commercial product presentation with good garment care.
- Maintain good stock levels and provide input on allocation to the area team.
- Ensure garment cycle – from delivery to presentation – and fitting‑room routines follow internal standards and tools.
- Apply best practice for all in‑store OMNI services and tech services/tools (Instore Care App, Click & Collect, Smart Store, etc.).
- Maintain strong pricing signs following global and local guidelines to ensure consistent price perception.
- Update and upkeep BOH areas for all colleagues (key information, health & safety, tidiness).
- Oversee the opening and closing of the store daily.

Additional Information
Compensation: expected base salary range is $24.15 - $28.50 hourly.
