Opportunity

This role will provide instruction and support to DeVry University\'s Advantage Academy high school population in Chicago, IL. DeVry University’s Advantage Academy helps qualified Chicago Public School students take college courses—and earn an Associate Degree in Information Technology and Networking with a Specialization in Network Systems Administration or an Associate Degree in Business Administration —while earning a high school diploma at the same time.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and provides students with an approved DeVry University syllabus that follows a campus template and includes the terminal course objectives.
  • Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and updates all course materials.
  • Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions to prepare the course and make it accessible to students.
  • Models effective oral and written communications that engage students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
  • Sets clear course expectations by publishing terminal objectives, assignment/examination dates, and the weighting of evaluation categories.
  • Ensures that content and level of material on exams correspond to course terminal objectives.
  • Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams and provides timely feedback to students.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

  • A master’s degree is required for all faculty positions (with 18 graduate hours in the subject being taught for undergraduate teaching).
  • Qualifying credentials must be awarded by an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Administration, or by an international institution with equivalent accreditation.
  • Faculty must have requisite subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills.
  • Faculty must have excellent motivational and instructional skills in a diverse and non-traditional environment.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and facilitate the efforts of diverse groups.
  • Additional requirements driven by state licensing or accreditation considerations may apply.

Pay

Visiting Professor pay is based on degree, credit hours taught per 8-week session, and location. DeVry University does not guarantee any specific number of work hours or assignments, which may vary based on the University’s needs and discretion.

  • Pay may vary in most states from $1500-$2700 per 8-week session.
  • Pay in the states of AZ, CA, IN and PA is paid at an hourly rate of either $22.00/hour or $23.50/hour.
