Job Opening: Research Associate / Team Leader (fully on-site; must live within 30 miles of Sunnyvale, CA)

CellMax Life (located in Sunnyvale, CA) has developed a blood-based test (FirstSight) that aims to revolutionize colorectal cancer and precancer screening. We are seeking a motivated research associate to join a team passionate about improving cancer and precancer screening to help enhance patients' health and lives.

Position Summary

We are seeking a full-time Research Associate (RA) to join CellMax Life's clinical team. The RA candidate should have experience in cell biology techniques, including cell culture, immunofluorescent staining and fluorescent microscopy. The RA will be responsible for performing the FirstSight epithelial cell assay, which involves enriching target cells from whole blood via a microfluidic biochip process, performing immunofluorescent staining and microscopy, and conducting artificial intelligence–based image-signal analysis. The RA will also manage lab facilities and inventory and record/report experimental results that contribute to a successful clinical trial.

The ideal RA will be a team player who can also work independently, is organized, and can communicate effectively. Our fast-moving team requires an individual who can learn new skills and concepts quickly while paying attention to details to ensure a successful clinical trial. Candidates should send a resume with their background and experience in the biological sciences. A laboratory scientist with managerial experience is strongly preferred, though recent college graduates are also encouraged to apply.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor or Master of Science with hands-on experience in a wet laboratory setting
  • Team leadership experience highly valuable
  • Experience with handling cancer cells and immunofluorescent staining
  • Handling blood or running microfluidic chip experience a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong documentation skills, and ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal) and adept at using computers
  • Comfortable working both independently and as a team member
