Job Description Summary

The Machine Line Team Leader assists the Machine Line Supervisor and the Machining Operations Manager with the development and continued success of the team and the operation. As a coach of the Machine Line, the ML Team Leader; in conjunction with the ML Supervisor and Machining Operations Manager, will assess requirements, develop plans, and provide needed materials; thus assuring that the work area is safe and that the product produced meets or exceeds customer expectation with regard to quality and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Verifies that documented procedures and instructions are being followed:
  • Standard Operating Procedures
  • Rework Instructions
  • Work Instructions
  • Preventive Maintenance Instructions
  • Inspection Instructions (MQP)
  • Reaction Plans
  • Process Set-up Instructions
  • Associate Handbook
• Monitors Housekeeping/5S and Posted Work Instructions
• Monitors Boundary Samples
• Frequently reviews the quality of products following each process and provides immediate feedback to Machine Line Specialists
• Generates and recommends solutions to production problems and suggests corrective action to ensure quality standards, policies and procedures are adhered to
• Assigns, trains and rotates Machine Line Specialists to build a solid team
• Facilitates communication:
  • Between operations within assigned Lines
  • Between Lines
  • Between Shifts
• Develops action plans to increase productivity and scrap reduction
• Holds overlap communications meetings
• Conducts meetings with Team Leaders, Managers, Maintenance Specialists
• Checks and reports status of supplies at the operation line and inventory levels
• Maintains appropriate staffing levels
• Prioritizes and organizes plant operations
• Maintains a motivational climate of continuous improvement
• Anticipates, analyzes, and diagnoses production problems (tooling problems, equipment malfunctions, material or labor shortages, etc.)

Maintains assigned roster and crews.

• Works with team on changeovers/setups at required operations
• Plans changes for minimum disruption
• Ensures production is recorded and verifies the following for accuracy:
  • Operation Productivity & Scrap Accountability Logsheets
  • Feedback on process and operation
• Provides input to facilitate effective cost reduction, work simplification, scheduling, etc.
• Monitors accuracy of production and quality reporting information with accountability for accuracy for crews/shifts

Implement and monitor all safety procedures with appropriate follow-up and corrective actions for unsafe conditions.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Education

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent work experience in the Quality Assurance function
• Associate Degree in Applied Science in Business, Engineering or Manufacturing preferred

Experience

• One year experience in manufacturing operations preferred
• A working knowledge of CNC Equipment, Robotics, & Automation and dip tank operation would be helpful but not required
