Overview

RESEARCH ASSISTANT, School of Medicine, Framingham Heart Study. This position supports the evaluation of volunteer participants (ages 50-99) and assists with data collection in accordance with the study protocol. The role is 100% onsite in Framingham, MA; remote work is not possible.

Responsibilities

• Engage with volunteer participants, ensure they feel welcome and appreciated, and collect data per the study protocol.
• Screen and register volunteer participants for a study assessing Medication Self-Administration (MSA).
• Assess whether overestimation of MSA performance identifies cognitive impairment and greater care needs.
• Interact with research participants during study visits, explain study protocol, and assess participants’ ability to complete study tasks.
• Maintain protocol adherence, review charts, keep logs, prepare reports, and attend staff meetings.
• Provide clinical and administrative support to the Research Center Core team to ensure quality and consistency of exam operations at FHS.
• Schedule typically Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:00 pm with occasional Saturdays (3–4 in Spring and 3–4 in Fall) as required.

Qualifications

• Must have a friendly demeanor and be comfortable working with study participants.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Extremely reliable and flexible with excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Excellent troubleshooting, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Strong prioritization and time management abilities.
• Experience using Microsoft Office suite.
• Bachelor’s degree required, with 1–3 years of related experience (experience gained during degree attainment acceptable).
• Physical requirement: ability to stand/walk for much of the day.
