Irrigation Sales Associate - Sunrise FS - Havana, IL


Sunrise FS is headquartered in Virginia, Illinois with branches in Mason and Cass counties. Sunrise FS has about 200 employees (including seasonal workers) and approximately 2,500 customers. The cooperative does business in agronomy, energy, grain, tires, irrigation, and retail. Sunrise FS is part of the GROWMARK System, an agricultural cooperative serving more than 100,000 customers across North America and Ontario, Canada.




This position will serve under the direction of the authorized manager, as well as learn hands-on from the sales and service team members. 





Responsible for learning the product lines and available proprietary products. 


Maintain a working knowledge of the marketplace and the competition.


Conduct sales interviews, identifies customer needs, and offers value-added products, services, and recommendations to patrons and prospects.


Provide excellent customer service by listening to the customers and following up with any issues or questions they may have.


Assist with patron meetings on product and technical information. 


Understand and implement marketing plans and sales strategies that generate profitable sales in the assigned territory.


Learn and implement target marketing and professional sales techniques including the FS sales interview road map, emphasis of appropriate features and benefits, and contact management system when calling on patrons and prospects.


Learn to design and accurately quote irrigation systems that meet the customer’s performance and agronomic expectations.


Collaborate with the appropriate Sunrise FS agronomy staff to develop irrigation systems featuring the appropriate technology necessary to optimize customer’s agronomic results.


As directed by supervisor, learn and perform the work required of an Irrigation Service Technician and develop the technical knowledge base to become proficient at servicing irrigation systems.


Ensures the credit worthiness of customers, quotes prices and credit terms, and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.  Promotes the use of credit programs as a sales tool and helps provide the required information to establish credit. 


Works closely with the credit department in collection of accounts receivable.





Responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle (if applicable) according to company standards, adheres to the uniform policy, and maintains the appropriate professional image.


Develops technical and sales skills in accordance with certification standards.

Performs other duties as assigned.





Normally requires a Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture, marketing or business related discipline or the equivalent thereof, and 1 - 2 years or more of business related work experience and/or training or equivalent to demonstrate the ability to generate sales in an assigned territory.


Ability to travel independently and overnight as needed.


Must have the ability to work beyond what would be considered normal working hours.

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
