- Designs software architectures for robotic and autonomous systems.

- Gather user requirements, define system functionality, and build high-quality, innovative, and fully performing software solutions that comply with coding standards and technical design.

- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary stakeholders to understand requirements and generate processes and architectures to meet their needs.

- Determines computing system requirements; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops autonomous services, desktop applications, scripts, and utility programs.

- Ensures software standards are met.

- Plans, and supervises complex engineering/science research and is a Subject Matter Expert.

- Provides analysis, guidance, and insight into the engineering, scientific or technical discipline under evaluation.

- Examine robotic architectures to guide their development across various domains.

- Present ideas for system improvements, including cost proposals.

- Evaluate, contribute, test, and document existing software and code.

- Plan and execute full lifecycle software development.

- Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Systems Engineering with 9 years experience or M.A/M.S. with 7 years experience

- Degree in software, engineering, scientific or technical discipline.

- Advanced degree is preferred.

- Technical knowledge in software architecture modeling and software development.

- Experience with Linux and Windows Operating Systems.

- Understanding of standards like SAE JAUS, J1939, RTSP, RTP, UDP, TCP, H.264, etc.

- At a minimum, a general knowledge of robotic and autonomous systems.

- Experience in hands-on development of embedded software in a system integration lab (SIL) environment.

- Knowledge of and ability to apply ISO/IEC 12207 standards for software and systems engineering

- Ability to develop software requirements to translate stakeholder needs into software requirements

- Proficient in high level programming languages like C/C++.

- Knowledge of Instrumentation Software (LabView, MATLAB), Scripting Tools and Microcontroller experience.

- Knowledge of Communication Buses (CAN (J1939), USB, Ethernet).

- Knowledge of QT for development of user interfaces.

- Knowledge of Data Distribution Services (DDS).

- Familiar with development tools such as VMWARE, Visual Studio, DOORS.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- At a minimum, a general knowledge of robotic and autonomous systems.


- Ability to apply computer software sciences and systems engineering theories, principles, tools and best practices to address user needs and performance requirements with engineered, optimal, cost effective, reliable, maintainable, best- value, embedded systems software solutions.
- Ability to model, architect, design, develop, code, integrate, test and manage vehicle electronic software solutions to provide and sustain operational capabilities within military ground systems and vehicles.
- Ability to develop and execute software and electronics lifecycle management, development, transition and sustainment and support plans.
- Ability to apply program management, project management, risk management, and value management techniques and principles to determine and optimize cost, schedule, and performance parameters from development to fielding for software products.
- Knowledge and experiences with robotic systems to include Robot Operating System (ROS), developing and diagnosing robotic systems, working knowledge of revision control, automated make systems, unit test frameworks, developing and debugging embedded systems, particularly the interaction between hardware and software, knowledge and experience with JAUS (Joint Architecture for Unmanned Systems).
- Knowledge of and ability to apply ISO/IEC 12207 standards for software and systems engineering and industry best practices associated with SEI Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) level 3 and above and Lean/6-Sigma principles to software process engineering, management and control.
