The Immunology Strategic Lead – Spondyloarthritis position in the US Immunology Patient Value Unit (US iPVU) is responsible for developing the comprehensive and integrated plan that maximizes the patient impact of UCB’s differentiated clinical data and first in class indication for treating the disease of non-radiographic Axial Spondyloarthritis.  Leading the launch of CIMZIA for nr-axSpA will position UCB as a leader in Spondyloarthritides, including Ankylosing Spondylitis.  Critical responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:


  • Securing a deep understanding of the Patient diagnosis journey in the US to define the optimal points of influence and greatest opportunities, including the role of Rheumatologists and other providers in the diagnosis, testing and effective treatment of these patients
  • Shaping a cross-functional, integrated launch strategy that addresses the key needs of patient identification and recognition, prescriber awareness, access to therapy and patient mobilization
  • Partnering with Medical to devise a communication approach for the unique study results and medical education to advance understanding of patient needs, diagnosis and treatment
  • Partnering to address Access needs of Patients to create preferential CIMZIA access for nr-axSpA patients in collaboration with the market access and pricing team
  • Partnering with Global teams on messaging, long-term and OUS integration
  • Setting the partnership framework with patient and stakeholder advocacy organizations and implementing plans
  • Partnering with Global and Regulatory on US label development
  • Building communication and engagement plans for Health systems, Prescribers and Patients to prepare for 2019 full-scale launch engagement which synchronizes with UCB portfolio communication priorities
  • Develops relevant market research and forecasting plans to measure and evaluate UCB’s impact
  • Plans, implements and monitors investments towards achieving objectives
  • Works across cross-functional teams within iPVU and US-based organization to ensure consistency and alignment in all operational initiatives.


Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated strategic thinker with entrepreneurial mindset including experience writing and presenting strategic business plans
  • Strategic and tactical marketing experience
  • Market access experience
  • Deep understanding of the US Immunology ecosystem
  • Demonstrated ability to “connect the dots”; coordinate with the decision makers as well as the indirect influencers to move projects along in a timely and expeditious fashion.
  • Ability to work across cross-functional teams a must. Internal partners include (but not limited to) Global, IT, SFE, Market Research, SFE analysts, Forecasting, MAP, Medical, etc.
  • Experience with internal review committee (med-legal-regulatory) process.
  • Strong project management and vendor management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree (MBA) preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Business Unit Strategy experience preferred.
