IT Administrator

GENERAL PURPOSE:

 

Support of sustaining operations, technical infrastructure projects and technical leadership of business systems.  This includes the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of server hardware and software, operations equipment support under supervision, network management, and documentation. Participate/Lead in the direction of the utilization of technology such that the goals of the business are enabled by that technology.  Skilled technician specialist experienced in multiple areas of IT infrastructure operating under minimal direction.  Assignments will be varied and complex in nature.  Reports to IT Manager.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND Responsibilities:

 

  • Set, support and monitor policies, procedures and standards
  • Author and set policies, procedures and technical direction with IT management approval
    • IT Purchasing standards and procedures
    • Security standards and procedures
    • Application Support and Monitoring procedures
    • IT and Luxor | EBSCO policies, procedures and methodologies in general
  • Adherence and continual improvement to change control standards, policies and procedures.  This includes testing and training procedures
  • Responsible for sustaining application operations and tasks such as:
  • The setup, installation and support of server hardware and software including the Sage 100 ERP system and EDI administration
  • The setup, installation and support of operations integration under supervision
  • Network installation and support with the assistance of Corp IT 
  • Backup/Recovery support with Corp IT
  • User training on software or hardware technology, including existing applications and planned changes
  • Documentation of business processes within the technology footprint
  • On average 50% of work activity focuses on sustaining and improving existing operations
  • Seizes opportunities to take the initiative on providing technical solutions to business problems within a team environment
  • Project Management Leadership
  • Leadership of mid-size to large technical projects 
  • Participation in the business justification process for technical infrastructure projects. Technical leadership of the package selection process and implementation, plus ongoing support
  • Estimate efforts and resources for assigned tasks, understand deadlines and priorities
  • Proactively communicate to IT management when project tasks and timelines cannot be met
  • Ensure security and disaster recovery considerations are part of the plan
  • Focuses on high levels of customer service to the internal and external customers
  • IT Purchasing and Management

 

  • Maintain appropriate asset records for all IT equipment
  • Attend vendor conferences, identify opportunities for Luxor, and lobby for improvements
  • Problem resolution with vendor technical support
  • Report status of tasks and project on a regular basis
  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 

  • BS degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years in IT technical Administration & Support

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

  • Usual office working conditions
