Job Description

Join Burns & McDonnell as an Environmental Manager in Birmingham, UK. The successful candidate will provide on-site field monitoring and project-level advice to ensure construction compliance with national environmental legislation and regulations.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

• Conducting on-site field monitoring to ensure continued compliance with environmental legislative and regulatory requirements
• Developing, reviewing, and implementing the Environmental Management System, including ISO 14001 certification
• Advising and supporting the obtaining of environmental licenses, permits, and consents
• Collaborating with subcontractors and supply chain to deliver best-value solutions aligned with the company's Environmental and Sustainability strategy
• Conducting environmental incident investigations and preparing communications, including bulletins, alerts, and training

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, a minimum of 7 years of experience in an environmental position, and experience in a high-compliance construction industry.

Desirable skills and qualifications include:

• Chartered or working towards chartership of a relevant professional institution
• Experience with environmental management systems, auditing, and inspection
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure
• Good interpersonal skills and clear communication
