Contract Type: Permanent | Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday | Worker Type: Hybrid Worker | Salary: Starting £51,356 rising to £54,495 per annum (Pro rata for part time) | Location: Eastcroft Depot, London Road, Nottingham, NG2 3AH

About The Role

We are looking for an experienced Highway Asset Manager to lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the council’s Highways Asset Management Policy and Strategy. The role ensures safe, sustainable and cost‑effective management of highway infrastructure while meeting statutory responsibilities and delivering value for money through data‑driven investment planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and update the Highways Asset Management Plan (HAMP) in line with national guidance and best practice.
  • Lead the collection and analysis of asset condition data (e.g., roads, footways, bridges and drainage) to inform investment priorities.
  • Manage and maintain the highways asset inventory and associated digital systems (Confirm, GIS‑based platforms).
  • Lead the production of lifecycle plans and asset valuation processes to support long‑term planning and funding bids.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Well‑Managed Highway Infrastructure (WMHI) Code of Practice.

About You

  • Strong experience in managing highway assets.
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills.
  • Ability to identify process improvements, define solutions and implement change.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering innovative and low‑carbon highways initiatives.
  • Experience developing people, services or teams to recognise, respect and value individual needs, fostering inclusion.
