Financial Controller – UK (International Marine & Offshore Engineering)
About the Role
Our client are looking for a hands‑on, proactive Financial Controller to work closely with the UK Country Director and team leads, while heading up our clients UK finance team. You’ll take the lead on delivering high‑quality, efficient financial support and advice across the UK business — making sure everything runs smoothly day‑to‑day, while also helping shape our clients long‑term plans. You’ll also play a key role in group‑level finance — working alongside the Group Finance Controller to handle consolidation and reporting across the wider international business.
What You’ll Be Doing (UK Focus)
- Act as the trusted finance partner to the UK Country Director and team leads, providing insights and practical financial support.
- Lead and develop the UK finance team — creating an engaged, capable, and motivated group that helps the business thrive.
- Oversee all daily finance operations, from accounting to controlling, making sure things run efficiently and in line with company policies.
- Set and implement short‑ and long‑term finance goals, processes, and objectives aligned with overall business priorities.
- Take responsibility for net working capital reporting and work closely with the Country Manager on follow‑up actions.
- Manage forecasting, budgeting, and accounting activities with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Lead the annual audit process in the UK, ensuring it’s completed on time and to a high standard.
- Produce, review, and present monthly management reports — offering meaningful analysis to support better business decisions.
- Be the main contact for external providers like auditors, tax advisors, and banks.
- Get involved in new business tenders — supporting contract terms, assessing financial and credit risks, and ensuring commercial soundness.
- Review internal controls and balance sheet reconciliations in FloQast.
- Analyse project and business line performance to identify financial trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Work closely with the CFO and wider finance team to support global financial reporting and projects.
- Provide analytical and regulatory support to ensure compliance with UK financial standards and legislation.
What You’ll Be Doing (Group Focus)
- Prepare consolidated monthly management accounts and other internal reports, improving reporting tools and insights where needed.
- Handle external reporting — including board packs and financial updates for lenders, investors, and other stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent).
- Strong background in finance — ideally with experience in audit or a professional services environment.
- A clear understanding of audit trails and solid financial acumen to support business growth.
- Great communication and report‑writing skills.
- Confident with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with Oracle NetSuite is a big plus.
- You must have the right to live and work in the UK.
