Grade: UE08
Salary: £50,253 to £61,759 per annum
Full-time: 35 hours per week
Contract: Open-ended (permanent)

The Opportunity

Colleagues in the Edinburgh Research Office support researchers throughout the research lifecycle. We are part of a team of over 300 colleagues working across the University of Edinburgh to provide research support.

We are looking for a Research Finance Manager to deliver financial management and post award administration of the University’s research grants. You will lead the European Union and International funded teams, managing complex portfolios to ensure compliance with funder terms and enable full recovery of research expenditure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver financial management and post award administration for the University's research grants.
  • Lead EU and International funded teams, ensuring academic and research support colleagues can deliver research in accordance with funder terms and conditions.
  • Support the maximisation of research income through ensuring compliance with funder terms and conditions and completion of financial reporting.
  • Be a champion of finance as an enabler to support colleagues in their goals.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant or actively studying towards qualification (CCAB, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Substantial experience of managing staff within a complex financial administration function.
  • Passion for using finance as an enabler to support colleagues in their goals.
  • Confidence working in a rapidly changing and deadline driven environment, where planning, communication and organisational skills are key.
  • Experience of European Commission grant funding and currency projects is desirable.
