Quality Engineer - (2018)

Nexteer Automotive is looking for an energetic individual who has a passion for quality and a drive to succeed.  The ideal candidate will have either a bachelor’s degree in engineering or 2+ years of quality, manufacturing, or engineering experience.  In this position, you will interact with both internal and external customers to provide updates, coaching, and analysis which will help drive quality performance and improvements. 



  • Monitor error proofing, gauging, and testing devices for product conformance.
  • Support the day-to-day operating systems that drive competitive quality performance and warranty improvements.
  • Support Flawless Launch initiatives.
  • Provide customer service and protect the customer.
  • Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions for process related concerns and FTQ improvements.
  • Interface with multiple disciplines (Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Purchasing, etc.).
  • Perform Warranty Analysis and provide customer updates.
  • Assist in strengthening, and maintaining the Quality System.
  • Coach teams to make decisions that promote continuous improvement and enhance our quality culture.
  • Assure compliance to IATF 16949 Standards within responsible areas.



  • Bachelors Degree in engineering or 2+ years of quality, manufacturing, or engineering experience.



  • Experience in applying statistical analysis methods, such as SPC, sampling, plans and design of experiments.
  • Working knowledge of analytical ability where problems are complex.  Demonstrated Problem Solving skills
  • Working knowledge of current IATF 16949 Quality System and ISO14001 requirements.
  • Elevated level of oral (including presentation) and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to use basic mechanical measurement equipment, including but not limited to: calipers, micrometers, go/no go gages, and optical comparators.
  • Literate in MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Standing:  While debugging and running off machines
    • Sitting:  Office environment, working at a computer, meetings
    • Speaking & Listening:  Communicating with work team, suppliers, customers
    • Walking/Mobility:  For walking around the manufacturing plants, global travel
    • Ability to assist trades personnel within confined space inspections within the furnaces
    • Lifting:  ability to occasionally lift 20 lbs. for working on manufacturing equipment and picking up tooling or parts
