Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU night shift position, requiring current OH or compact RN license and 18 months of pediatric specialty experience.
Responsibilities
- Position is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of a hospital
- Night shift schedule is 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, three 12-hour shifts per week
- Patient population includes pediatric patients of all ages up to 25 years, including those requiring epilepsy monitoring
- Involves specialized care including EKG monitoring and administration of inotropes
- Traveler is required to work at least every other holiday
- ECG rhythm recognition test and safeMedicate assessment will be completed during orientation and must be passed with an acceptable score
- Travelers cannot return to the facility as permanent or per diem staff for 1 year from their previous end date
- Local candidates are accepted at the same bill rate
- Negative 10-panel drug screen, including cotinine, required within 12 months of start, with annual updates
- Candidates must pick up their badge and complete onsite fingerprinting prior to start date
- Pre-start and annual modules must be completed; up to 4 hours are billable for annual modules
- Facility does not accept any license with open cases
- PAPRs are only permitted for those with an approved medical or religious exemption for facial hair
Requirements
- Active Ohio or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 18 months permanent pediatric specialty experience prior to travel assignments
- AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required and must be active
- Prior experience with EKGs and inotropes required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHHS) certification preferred
- One reference from a manager, assistant nurse manager, supervisor, or director in the pediatric specialty required
