Pharmacy Technician

Hours:  Day/PM Shifts, including rotating weekends and holidays

Status:  Full Time (80 hours bi weekly)


1 year experience as a pharmacy technician, or completed a pharmacy training program or enrolled in pharmacy school.
Maintain current pharmacy technician licensure through the State of Illinois since before 1/1/2008 or Certified Pharmacy Technician
Basic computer skills to accomplish order entry and report generation
Strong mathematical skills and the ability to calculate partial doses of drugs
Licensure in the State of Illinois as a Registered Pharmacy Technician Strong reasoning skills
Ability to interact with others in order to provide a positive work environment.

Assist registered pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of prescription medications, manufacturing of pharmaceutical preparations, and the keeping of records required under local, state, and federal laws regarding the operation of the pharmacy and the practice of pharmacy. Assist in the inventory and ordering of medications to provide accurate and timely control.

Prepares intravenous admixtures, irrigations, and all parenteral products utilizing aseptic techniques. Adheres to all policies and professional standards.
Involvement and leadership in an area of specialty chosen by the technician and the Operations Manager or Director of Pharmacy. This includes education and orientation of staff in all areas of technician accountability.
Completes patient billing, stocking and ordering of medication, and gathering of information to assist the pharmacist in medication utilization review.
Prepackages all oral products necessary to complete the unit dose cart fill and prepares daily medication regimens in individual patient drawers.
Prepares all chemotherapy using proper cytotoxic handling techniques and packages and delivers those products in a safe and proper manner.
