Job Summary

Donnelley Financial Solutions (NYSE: DFIN) is seeking an experienced Solution Owner. You will create innovative technical solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements balanced against cost, time and resource constraints, design and maintenance risk, and ROI to maintain our existing Venue Virtual Data Room product and help evolve it into a set of fault tolerant, autonomously scalable, and performant microservices in Azure. Serving and working closely with engineering teams, you will translate stakeholder need into meaningful, usable, and high-quality technical solutions in a fast-paced, results-focused environment.

• You make complex abstract problems simpler by conceptualizing them into a set of smaller, concrete, easy to understand and solve, interdependent problems.

• Success creating technical solutions to these problems that engineering teams implemented into commercial grade, distributed software products. Solution Owner

• You are a self-starter that thrives in the face of challenge. You are relentless in clearing obstacles with a resourceful and creative approach to problem solving.

• You require minimal managerial oversight. You set goals for yourself (and teams) and drive yourself (and teams) to meet them.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with both individual contributors and executive leadership. Comfortable communicating technical matters with business people and business matters with technical people.

• Maniacal attention to details, balanced with the ability to absorb large amounts of information and distill it down to the essentials.

• Strong aptitude and desire to learn new technologies and leverage tools of the trade.

• 7+ years software and systems engineering experience in complex commercial grade distributed polyglot systems

• Usage and experience using VSTS, Jira, Aha! or similar tool to plan and maintain agile workflows and a product roadmap

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Math, or Computer/Electrical Engineering


Nice to haves

• Experience system engineering large scale, high throughput, low latency distributed systems in Azure

• Experience planning projects using User Story Mapping

• Project management experience with a PMP® certification

• Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Math, or Computer/Electrical Engineering
