The Role

As an AVP of Product and Platform, you will be responsible for implementing strategic inititiatives of LFN as they relate to the Investment Products & Platforms made available to LFN advisors and registered representatives.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead substantial aspects of LFN’s response to major regulatory changes in the financial services industry, (e.g., Department of Labor fiduciary regulations), including strategic direction, project coordination and management, and communication with applicable stakeholders.
  • Assist in implementing the strategic direction of investment platforms and products utilized by LFN advisors and registered representatives, including contributing to the development of strategy, and the maintenance and enhancement of the products and services offered.
  • This position will supervise staff in support in the execution of these functions.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, performance assessment, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within LFN.
  • Develops staff through team meetings, one on one coaching sessions and other training opportunities.
  • Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent. 
  • Directs, establishes and implements priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure departmental results. 
  • Identifies and directs strategic process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and key stakeholders on complex assignments and projects.
  • Builds organizational capability within team.
  • Ensures that top talent is hired and retained. 
  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) or responsibility, assess the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
  • Participants in company and industry-sponsored national planning forums, exchange meetings, clearing firm, SIMFA, and FSI meetings; facilitates focus groups, participates in steering committees, and presents key subject matter.
  • Leverage internal resources and field technology for data analysis and reporting, risk management assessment, and continuous service delivery monitoring ensuring risk mitigation and continuous process improvement.
  • Translates company business goals into clear initiatives for units while actively participating in broker-dealer task forces, projects, and initiatives.
  • Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines.  Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
  • Remains current in profession and industry trends.
  • Makes a positive contribution as demonstrated by: making suggestions for improvement and learning new skills, procedures and processes

 

Requirements

 

Education

  • Undergraduate degree or 10+ years of comparable work experience required. 
  • FINRA Series 7, 65 or 66 helpful.

 

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in financial services that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position
  • Experience servicing Advisory business required.
  • Prior management experience
  • A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations
  • Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distractions
  • Drives performance targets to completion
  • Strong knowledge of investment products. 
  • Knowledge of the retail distribution marketplace
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies, proposals and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, industry publications, technical procedures and/or government regulations including: FINRA notices, compliance and legal interpretations and guidelines
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from diverse audiences including advisors, field management, senior leadership, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to write correspondence, policies and proposals to various targeted audiences
  • Excellent verbal/communication skills with a personal, persuasive style. 
  • Excellent presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear informed and logical discussions/presentations.
  • Apply concepts such as probability, statistics, modeling, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
  • Work with mathematical concepts such as averages, variances, mean, standard deviation and/or relative standard deviation. 
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

  • Evaluate trends in analytical data
