Position Summary:

This position will be responsible for supporting energy efficiency improvements at our headquarters site in Kingsport, Tennessee, and other sites as business needs arise.  In addition to developing and deploying analytic tools that enable insights and management of Eastman's Global Natural Resources Program, this role has the potential to provide leadership and direction to take Energy Analytics into the future of Algorithms, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.


Job Duties/Responsibilites:

- Assist in the development of energy management systems to improve the efficiency of energy reduction efforts.

- Assist in the development of models to better understand the drivers of energy usage in each area of the company.

- Evaluate, analyze and develop recommendations for energy efficiencies within manufacturing.

- Manage site energy initiatives including but not limited to:  metering, insulation projects, lighting, or steam leak reduction programs.

- Prepare presentations from findings to deliver persuasive cases to Management and Staff in support of increasing energy efficiencies.

- Evaluate plant operations for opportunities to improve energy efficiency.

- Maintain professional and technical knowledge as it relates to energy

- Educational advocate to internal and external communities to increase energy awareness.

- Contribute to the team by accomplishing related results as needed.

- Travel associated with this position will be 10% or less based on business requirements.


Skills and Knowledge necessary to perform the position:

- Experience or interest in learning software needed for energy management data analysis (e.g. Tableau, R, VBA, PI, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft BI Stack, Access, Excel Pivot Tables, Power BI)

- Analytics Capabilities: Competency with engineering, statistics, and mathematics to understand the appropriate techniques to apply to a given analytic problem and then to be able to generate useful results with those techniques is the fundamental requirement of this job.  Experience doing this with R is highly desirable, although analytic experience with any common platform is valuable.  Extensive use of Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VBA, data models, etc.) is also a plus.

- Programming: Ability to utilize coding in solving problems and deploying results is essential.  Scripting experience with R is preferred.  Skills in accessing data using SQL are critical.

- Data Manipulation: Must be able to access, manipulate and transform data, either as a prerequisite to analysis or as an analytic result in itself.  Application of programming skills to do this is expected.  Experience with tools such as Tableau or the Microsoft Power BI stack is a plus.



- Degree – Mechanical, Electrical, or chemical engineer from an accredited university (MS preferred)

- 2 years of experience. Two or more years of field experience is required or similar/equivalent research or academic experience.  Design experience of pumping systems, heat transfer, and pipe distribution systems is preferred.
