A Little about You 

You have extensive experience in a product management role.  Ideally you have 7-10 years of management in MRO sales/marketing or product management.  You understand the product management process, taking a new concept from start to finish.  Additionally, you might have experience with the following industries: Food & Beverage, Utilities, Oil & Gas, Construction, Mining & Aggregate, Railroads, DOT, Military, or Chemical Refineries.

 

You get the MRO industry.  You live and breathe MRO. It is your passion. You have a vast understanding of the products, industry and competitive knowledge. Some of the exciting products you enjoy working with are fasteners, electrical supplies and hand tools.

 

You have had an international footprint.  We work with manufacturers all over the world and that is great for you! You have experience building relationships with various suppliers, no matter where they are located, maybe even in Asia

 

You are a strong communicator.  You work well with others and can confidently communicate, whether in-person, on the phone or via email, with a variety of people, including those you have never met.  Additionally, you possess leadership skills and serve as a mentor to your colleagues- often answering questions or providing industry insight.  

 

You are a self-starter.  You have the unique ability to be self-motivated in accomplishing overall corporate directives.  You work well on your own and don't require oversight from your manager.  They trust you to execute accurately and with little to no error, even when you have multiple projects to manage at any given time. 

 

You work well under pressure.  Aggressive deadlines and large projects do not scare you.  After all, you are an excellent multi-tasker and never let a to-do item slip past you. Even when you have multiple projects to manage with competing priorities, you deliver results on time and error free.   

 

You have experience partnering with a sales team.  As a product manager, you cross functionally work with a variety of stakeholders.  You have exposure and experience building a strong relationship with the sales organization of a business.  Often, sales representatives look to you to find new and innovative products they can offer to our clients.  

 

You are okay taking the show on the road.  You have international travel experience, and don't mind spending a portion of your time out of town to manage your product lines.  Ideally, you can make yourself available up to 25% of time to meet with reps, vendors, and suppliers.  

 

 

Day-to-Day Work Examples

We support growth, opportunity and variety, which means your day-to-day has the potential to adapt with you and your passions. If you’re not challenged and growing, neither are we. For starters, though, here are some day-to-day examples of what you will be doing:

 

  • Manage multiple product lines, including optimizing existing products, introduction of new offerings and development of growth opportunities in a timely fashion
  • Support supervisor on project-based initiatives
  • Understand, streamline, track and improve the product add process to make sure the full process is completed.
  • Develop and execute programs, promotional and merchandising plans for the product group
  • Support national sales team as required
  • Collect competitive data and use for cross referencing
  • Generate training and selling resources across multiple media formats to drive sales
  • Assist in promotion strategies, collateral documents and web content
  • Conduct market analysis in various key industries that will help drive product additions specific to our industry focus.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Work independently to learn the businesses and execute assigned work in addition to the management of the work of the group
  • Additional responsibilities as needed
