Position Description:

Merck Oncology is a rapidly growing business within Merck Global Human Health, dedicated to developing breakthrough biomedical innovations to help extend and improve the lives of people with cancer worldwide.  The Oncology Marketing Services roles are designed to develop future commercial leaders in Merck Oncology.  Candidates will gain relevant, impactful and foundational pharmaceutical marketing business experience in one of three areas – Strategic Customer Insights (Market Research), Marketing Communications (Promotion), or Multi-Channel Integration (Digital). 

In Market Research, the Sr. Specialist will complete projects to assess market dynamics and unmet customer needs, in order to identify business drivers and leverage points for new product launches in a variety of oncology therapeutic markets. Projects could be US or Global in scope.

In Marketing Communications, the Sr. Specialist will develop promotional resources and programs for HealthCare professionals or Consumers aligned with strategic business objectives.  Projects could be Digital or Personal promotion enabled.   Projects could be US or Global in scope.

In Multi-Channel Integration, the Sr. Specialist will help define, implement and measure digital customer engagement plans, deployed to US Health Care Professionals across the oncology product portfolio.

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

BS or BA degree and currently enrolled in a program leading to a Master in Business Administration (MBA) with a graduation date prior to or by May 2019

Required Experience and Skills: 

  • A minimum of 2 plus years of professional work experience in the pharmaceutical, healthcare or biomedical industries.
  • Marketing concentration and interest

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Strategic thinking, excellence in analytical skills (qualitative and quantitative), problem-solving skills, and program management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and cross-functional teamwork in a matrix business environment
  • Superior communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
