Facilities Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

Job Description:

As the Facilities Instrumentation and Controls Engineer you will be responsible for providing technical support, and expertise on operational and maintenance programs for the I and C equipment and systems at the Manassas, VA site.  You will also assist the design and construction team providing critical operational and maintenance input and support for construction projects as needed.  Critical metrics include eliminating events that cause production interruptions.

Technical Requirements:

Experience with Control Systems, Design FMCS systems, System Architecture, Software & Security systems, Backup HPM systems, Fabview, Chemical and Gas systems, transformer, switchgear and switchboard in high tension, medium and low voltage, emergency generator, dynamic uninterrupted power supply, dynamic voltage regulator, variable speed drive, fan filter unit, lightning protection, general, emergency and exit lighting, infra-red scanning, integrated monitoring system and power quality system maintenance in semiconductor industries preferred.

Areas of Responsibilities include:

Problem and Data Analysis:
•  Identify root causes of equipment or systems performance shifts
•  Use statistics and data analysis to identify and resolve process and equipment problems
•  Provides suggestions for process or equipment changes to improve Facility Metrics
•  Applies judgment in analytical problem solving to resolve issues and make data driven decisions
•  Identifies risk analysis for your systems and develop plans to resolve gaps in this analysis

Equipment and Facility Processes:
•  Provide cost effective solutions to real time equipment and process problems
•  Evaluate new or modified equipment and make recommendations
•  Use, identify and implement equipment and process control methods providing solutions based on the information
•  Develop and implement long term improvements in equipment or processes that result in cost reduction, improved reliability and safety improvements.
•  Implement lessons learned to improve and prevent future problems. Help oversee the execution of these items.
•  Identifies and evaluates interactions between equipment and processes and resolve potential problems
•  Conduct research on new equipment or equipment modifications developing innovative solutions
•  Coordinate a team to solve equipment/process issues
•  Represent the department in your area of responsibility
•  Coordinate vendors / contractors as required to complete your work
•  Assist in identifying facility standards that can be implemented at the site or globally
•  Analyze the cost structure of your systems and recommend actions to minimize costs

•  Participate in or manage specific projects
•  Participate in cross function projects
•  Analyze project budgets and determine ROI and/or NPV

Environmental, Health, Safety and Security:
•  Champion all safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
•  Be an active participant in the EHSS program by reporting all EHSS-related concerns or problems immediately to the appropriate individual (ERT, Supervision, etc.)
•  Be proactive in reducing incidents of personal injuries, safety hazards or environmental releases.

Expense Reduction:
•  As a Team Member at Micron, you are responsible for reducing costs associated with your area. This responsibility may include owning and completing cost reduction projects, identifying cost effective sustaining/manufacturing improvements, minimizing regular expenditures, and helping to   promote a cost conscious culture.



Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

•  Engineering



At least 3 years of experience in any of the following:

•  Engineering

•  Semiconductor
