Who is Racing Queensland?

Racing Queensland is a statutory body whose primary purpose is to promote, enhance, and provide a platform to service the industry across three codes of racing: Thoroughbred, Greyhound, and Harness. RQ’s purpose is to connect Queenslanders through great racing, events and the love of our animals.

Role summary

Racing Queensland is seeking an experienced Executive General Manager of Marketing and Communications to lead our Marketing and Communications Team comprised of 3 direct reports and a large team of 12 on a permanent basis.

Core business objectives of the role:

  • Leading the function to formulate strategy, manage risk, and deliver on short to medium-term strategic objectives.
  • Providing expertise and advice to the CEO and Board on marketing, corporate affairs, brand, and communications within a dynamic wagering landscape.
  • Provide high-quality, commercially astute strategic advice.
  • Lead industry engagement activities within your portfolio, including engaging with stakeholders.
  • Prepare monthly updates in accordance with organisational, government, and audit (internal/external) requirements, and provide relevant organisation-wide communications.
  • Manage the operational budget, operational contracts, and project-related costs in accordance with RQ financial delegations, policies, and procedures.
  • Implement strategies to achieve short and long-term key performance indicators.
  • Provide advice to the Board and CEO on strategic and operational business performance, marketing, brand, and customer analysis, and emerging opportunities and challenges.
  • Deliver RQ’s corporate communications program, including the Annual Report, along with all media releases, communications, and on-brand content.
