System Manager PEX
Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.
Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi‑disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a System Manager in Canberra to work on Joint projects.
Base pay range
A$138,000.00/yr - A$174,000.00/yr
What You’ll Do
- Sustainment Delivery: Oversee ongoing sustainment activities aligned with CAF16 mandates.
- Vendor & Contract Management: Manage vendor relationships and ensure compliance with contract terms.
- Engineering & Security Coordination: Lead engineering certification and security accreditation processes.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with ADF system sponsors, users, and other key stakeholders.
- Risk & Performance Oversight: Identify and manage risks, monitor system and contractor performance, and address obsolescence.
What You’ll Bring
- ADF Capability Experience: Proven background in Air Force or ADF acquisition and sustainment management.
- Operational Aviation Knowledge: Familiarity with aviation environments, methodologies, tools, and governance.
- Enterprise IT Expertise: Understanding of large‑scale IT architecture and management processes.
- Project Management: Experience in IT and/or military project delivery.
- Strong Communication & Teamwork: Effective interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate within diverse teams.
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
