Sr. IS Project Manager - Clinical IT

JOB SUMMARY

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is hiring a Senior IS Project Manager - Clnical IT to join our permanent team!  The Senior Project Manager provides effective management of midsized or large IT projects, or oversees the management of multiple smaller projects being managed by more junior project managers.  This is accomplished by applying a standard, defined methodology to the project, and providing the leadership skills necessary to control the execution of the project tasks, as defined in the methodology. The project manager is responsible for delivering several key project artifacts, and shares responsibility and accountability with the project leadership team for the successful delivery of the entire project. The project manager must also actively manage to the project budget from a dollar spend and a resource perspective.

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required.

EXPERIENCE*

  • Minimum of 5+ solid years leading IT projects

  • Demonstrated project management experience of multiple large or complex projects from beginning through execution
  • Demonstrated experience handling multiple projects simultaneously and completely
  • Experience with generally known project management software (e.g. – Microsoft Project), commercially available healthcare and business software packages is required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Experience with task methodologies and project management software
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10+ yrs solid experience leading IT projects
  • Clinical IT Project Mgmt or implementation experience

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES*

  • Demonstrated knowledge of IT systems, terminology, and processes for the purpose of project administration
  • Demonstrated proficiency managing projects that typically have enterprise-wide implications as well as a highly technical complexity
  • Demonstrated understanding of application implications of moderate technical complexity
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical and time management skills and display the following aptitudes: communication, problem solving and conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing and explaining project information and status to management, staff, and vendors
  • Able to develop and maintain good working relationships and to interact positively and productively with teams across organizational lines, including administrative and executive staff

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Exercises a leadership role, ensuring the completion of projects within defined time-lines, budget controls and quality standards.
  2. Leads/mentors less experienced staff on complex projects in area of expertise.
  3. Develops planning and implementation methodologies, working with project team, external consultants, and vendors as necessary.
  4. Defines and manages project approach, structure, and charter through the establishment of project requirements and planning.
  5. Defines standards, methodologies, and processes to ensure efficient development and implementation of systems.
  6. Applies project management methodology and standards to project activities in order to meet business expectations.
  7. Administers the project tasks and manages dependencies to ensure that activities are consistent with established IS&T standards, as well as business objectives
  8. Prepares documentation and reports regarding project status, issues, and risks.
  9. Prepares management reports summarizing resource utilization as well as how project plans are performing against critical schedules and budgets.
  10. Develops, manages and monitors the project budget, schedule and scope.
  11. Prepares necessary project documentation as required for an overall Project Manager.
  12. Manages multiple large or complex projects.
  13. Responsible for ensuring that all project tasks are completed successfully, on time and within budget guidelines.
  14. Assembles a project team, identifies appropriate resources needed and develops a schedule to ensure timely completion of project.
  15. Holds and/or attends regular project meetings, vendor presentations, teleconferences, etc. which are associated with assigned projects.
  16. Provides clients/project team members with appropriate verbal/written communications to ensure the overall success of the project.
  17. Prepares presentations for project management and/or senior management relating to project status.
  18. Ability to communicate verbally converting technical to non-technical terms.
  19. Complete appropriate forms/discussions addressing performance and development goals for all employees assigned to each project to give effective, meaningful feedback.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
