About This Role:
Provides support to Boston Scientific by facilitating efficient operations within the St Paul Calibration Lab.  Oversees plant-wide Calibration and Preventative Maintenance tasks and monitors performance of site Cal/PM metrics.  Optimizes existing processes and ensures that Calibration Lab goals are met.  Position will be responsible for lab staffing and equipment decisions and interfacing with multiple manufacturing sites and business divisions.
 

 

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Implements a staffing plan by identifying resource requirements, writing justifications for additional personnel, obtaining approval for changes, and coordinating the selection process with Human Resources.
  • Will lead a team of 10 calibration technicians and an engineer in the achievement of organizational goals.
  • Develops direct reports by securing appropriate training, assigning progressively challenging tasks, applying progressive disciplinary action as appropriate and conducting formal written and verbal performance reviews.
  • Monitors daily work operations and provides direction and guidance to experienced exempt employees or skilled nonexempt staff to achieve unit or project goals.
  • Owns and monitors performance metrics specific to the area.  Initiates projects and sets priorities to achieve performance goals.
  • Provides sub-process ownership of Equipment Controls for the Arden Hills site
  • Improves processes needed to facilitate adherence to Equipment Control procedures and identifies the need for Corrections or Corrective Actions to maintain adherence.
  • Owns budget planning and financial performance for the area.
  • Drives calibration efficiency within the team.  Manages projects to reduce cost and turn time of calibration activities.
  • The job functions within the team are complex and require a thorough knowledge of the calibration process, equipment and systems used in this function. 
  • This position requires an ability to communicate necessary information in an efficient fashion to the Manufacturing team and cross-functional groups such as Quality, Process Development and Design Engineering. 
  • This position requires a high level of quality compliance through an understanding of the quality system and the specifics of how that system impacts day-to-day work in the Cal Lab.

 

 

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 2 – 5 years of engineering experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience with Calibration/Metrology or other lab management
  • Familiarity with NIST and other Standards organizations
  • Regulatory audit experience
