FOOD AND BEVERAGE MANAGER / MAITRE D' - FIRST CLASS AIRPORT LOUNGE

Position:  Maitre D' / Food and Beverage Manager

Location:  Airport Lounge / JFK Airport

Work Schedule:  7-day operation; hours are 1:00pm - 11:00 pm

Job Summary

 

 

The Food & Beverage Manager / Maitre D' performs a variety of duties relating to lounge-style service including greeting and serving the customers. Responsible for ensuring that both first class and business class lounge operations meet required operating standards and customer service goals.  Responsible for all passengers from the moment they enter the lounge -- ensure they are well-received and guide them through the lounge and dining areas until their boarding call, making sure we give a fond farewell. Identifies client/guest needs and interacts in a positive, proactive manner.  Works on a consistent basis with lounge attendants and lounge BOH staff to create and maintain platinum service experience and food delivery of first class and business class.  Responsible for ensuring that customer complaints are appropriately handled and rectified.  Oversees daily catered functions for business class dining and first class dining.  Oversees the maintenance of adequate equipment, food, beverages, product, and decoration inventories. Plans menus, layout, decor.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Directs, coaches, supports, supervises and evaluates (in conjunction with the Lounge Manager) the performance of all Front- of- the House Staff in accordance with Service Standards.
  • Maître d’/Assistant Lounge Manager represents the lounge in its entirety and represents oneself in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
  • Ensures that all staff is trained and performs their duties in accordance with the service standards.
  • Creates daily assignment sheets to ensure that the all areas of the lounge have appropriate personnel in place
  • Liaises with Experience Director to create and hold quarterly service trainings.
  • Responsible for the general maintenance of Lounge, reporting any repair or replacement needs to the Lounge Managers.
  • Communicates daily with the Client, Lounge Manager, and Chef regarding service in the Lounge.
  • Maintains beverage inventory, develops wine lists and menus as needed.
  • Has fluent knowledge of menu offerings, continuously monitors food as it leaves the kitchen to ensure superior quality.
  • Promptly and efficiently resolves all customer concerns to the customer’s satisfaction
  • Conducts daily service meetings to discuss trainings, expected passenger counts, food specials, promotions, and relevant information that may impact the daily lounge operation.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum of Associates Degree in Hospitality or equivalent work experience
  • Prior food and beverage management experience in four- or five-star hotel or restaurant
  • Excellent customer service skill
  • Experience in a multi-cultural environment
  • Proficient in MS Office products
  • Available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required
