Job Purpose

The incumbent is responsible for supporting  and managing the achievement of the Bank’s information security objectives of integrity, confidentiality/privacy, availability and continuity, and the delivery of Scotia Service in regards to audit, compliance and regulatory requirements:

 

•  Ensuring SOX compliance.  Ensuring there is no material weakness in SOX controls and that management testing is completed on time.

•  Preparing requested materials, coordinating and attending meetings with auditors.

• Tracking requests during the audit and raising issues/concerns as necessary.

•  Lead Internal and External audit reviews and be a point of contact to lead and resolve open audit items.

•  Understand NIST framework and Gartner CEB self-assessments.

•  Respond to requests for information security assessments and questionnaires, providing information security related responses within required time.

•  Following up and ensuring that all outstanding Regulatory and Compliance items are completed and delivered on a timely basis.

•  Follow the established documented process for summarizing and presenting compliance initiatives to management to provide timely and updated information and statistics on compliance related items.

 

Key Accountabilities

The incumbent will continuously and consistently need to balance conflicting requirements relating to Audit, Compliance and Regulatory, and the needs of day-to-day operations to deliver Scotia Service.

 

The nature of the position is such that the incumbent operates partly in a set framework in relation to the daily security verification and partly in an unstructured framework in audit, compliance and regulatory situations and project activity. Rapid response is often required to queries and problems and that arise.

Education/Experience

1. Possesses a university degree/college diploma in related discipline(s) or equivalent work experience, and/or 3 to 5 years experience in an information security environment preferably with knowledge of Audit, Compliance and Regulatory Management

2.  Strong knowledge and understanding of emerging technologies as they pertain to external regulatory requirements (e.g., PIPEDA, SOX, ISO, CoBIT, COSO, GLBA)

3. Advanced knowledge of industry directions and trends in Information Security, Risk Management and Regulations

4. Completion of security certifications such as CISA

5. Demonstrates solid knowledge of the standard operating platforms, system administration, network administration, development process and security process

6. Exhibits advanced knowledge of one or more security processes and technologies

7.  Solid understanding of project management processes, documentation, audit and signoff authorities

8. Solid knowledge of the Bank’s Policies and Procedures in relation to Information Security.
