Job Summary

Harley-Davidson is building a new Public Relations team at an exciting time in our storied history! This is a newly created Public Relations Manager position that will lead a team of employees, contractors, and vendors who will help introduce Harley-Davidson to a new generation of riders!

As we introduce new models to new global markets, we will be simultaneously continuing to invest in existing models that have made Harley-Davidson what we are today. Critical to how we message these exciting changes to major US media outlets and endemic media will be a strong US-based Public Relations team.

As the manager of this team you will be responsible for collaborating on and implementing strategies to significantly improve Harley-Davidson’s reach and relevance across US markets, resulting in growth in the US business, creation of new riders, and the development of our customer base. This means you will be working on the planning, execution, and administration of all major and precision Public Relations campaigns. This includes managing direct reports, contractors, vendors, budgets, and campaign evaluation. Key to your success will be the ability to use data, metrics, and align internal stakeholders behind the implementation of a corporate strategy.

To be successful in this role, you should be prepared to demonstrate the following:

  • Must be able to develop and implement a global PR strategy in a matrix environment
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Have a full understanding of media needs and media relationships; ability to pitch and develop media relationships
  • Be proactive, reliable, responsible and accurate with an attention to detail
  • Given a degree of latitude, an ability to be creative in the way you pitch stories and develop media relationships

Education Required
A bachelor's degree in Marketing or a related field is required.

Experience Required
All applicants will have at least 8 years of related experience, which will include:
  • 2 years of Social Media
  • 2 years of Media Relations work with major national media outlets
  • Project Management experience
  • Direct supervisory experience
We also anticipate that our ideal candidate will likely have the following experience:
  • Experience developing earned media plans and cross-channel marketing strategies
  • International/Global brand experience
  • Leading edge experience with of a wide variety of Paid/Owned/Earned communication channels, including events, interactive and social media and community management

​To be successful in this role our next PR Manager will need to walk in the door some basic skills. These skills will be honed from prior experience, and will include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to motivate and inspire teams in a fast-paced work environment
  • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated skill at relationship building, influencing both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and implement multi-dimensional long-range plans
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task and effectively direct teams under tight deadlines on a regular basis, a team player with a great attitude
  • Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Office products, as well as Internet/Intranet publishing experience
