Payroll Manager

Manager, Payroll



Manage and oversee the payroll function and activities of the company. The manager of payroll is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of payroll utilizing Ceridian DayforceHCM payroll system. Monitor all system requirements related to the payroll and timekeeping application by working in conjunction with internal IT staff and outside payroll provider. He or she must work together with the HR and Benefit team to maintain and interface payroll/HR information systems, and must ensure that effective internal controls are in place and followed at all times within the payroll span of control. Other responsibilities include communication with internal and external stakeholders as employees, auditor and 3rd party venders.


Essential Functions:

•             Provide day to day and strategic leadership for the payroll function for the entire organization, ensuring that the company is in compliance payroll laws and SOX.

•             Ensure timely and accurately bi-weekly payroll processing, including any necessary off cycle payroll runs and quarter/year end reconciliations.

•             Manage and ensure that all payroll procedures, and payroll related systems are accurate and complete, and proper audits are documented. Review and update internal controls and audits as needed.

•             Monitor payroll related funding and payroll tax payments by 3rd party vendor.

•             Managing the preparation of annual W2 and related filing as well as any other regulatory requirements.

•             Manage any payroll/time keeping related projects such as migration, conversion, consolidation and upgrades and partner with other departments as necessary.

•             Respond to any payroll related reports, data request and incoming correspondence from internal and external requests.

•             Document and update procedures, implement and execute best practices. Consistently re-evaluate the efficiency and completeness of  payroll process. Ensure policies and procedures are in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley.

•             Create ad-hoc reports to meet the needs of facilities, corporate departments, management and regulatory agencies as requested.

•             Provide recommendations and solutions to management for opportunities to streamline and automate existing processes. Contribute technically and analytically to the achievement of these solutions.

•             Lead and direct the work of others.

•             Perform other tasks as assigned.

Position Qualifications

             Required:  Bachelor’s degree in related field


•             Work Experience

             Required:  5+ years experience in payroll manager role with 3000+ employees to process


•             Skills/Knowledge

             Required:  MOS

             Desired:  Ceridian, SAP

•             Licenses/Certifications 

             Desired:   CPP
