Position Summary

Directs workflow of assigned production departments, maximizing process efficiencies, productivity levels, and quality standards. Leads, coaches, and develops front-line associates to superior results for quality, through-put, timeliness, cross-training and adaptability. Is a 'change-agent' for continually identifying and adapting new processes and methodologies for improved results. Executes Lean Manufacturing principles to identify and eliminate waste in all aspects of business operations. Steward for safe and responsible work practices and ensures all company policies and practices are adhered to. This position plays a key role in the daily success of this organization.

Specific Responsibilities

* Coordinates product flow through the production floor to ensure the 'right' work is created in the 'right' manner, at the 'right' time, and for the 'right' cost.
* Identifies, recommends, implements, and verifies modifications in production processes to eliminate waste and deliver 'Product Flow'.
* Monitors and adapts product work-group processes and physical movement of staff and product to optimize efficiency.
* Works closely with Leads and Management for proper utilization of a flexible workforce to address changing daily needs.
* Inspects and determines product quality to ensure the company standards are maintained.
* Assists in developing and implementing Lean manufacturing methods, ensuring consistent execution of Lean principles within their assigned areas.
* Trains and coaches staff on Lean Flow concepts.
* Educates staff to understand the "why" behind our practices and goals
* Monitors work environment to ensure safety standards are maintained, holding associates accountable for following all safety practices.
* Performs certain scheduled maintenance on designated equipment.
* Has direct supervisory responsibility for associates within assigned production departments including: hiring, performance management, coaching, training, timekeeping, etc. Responsible for maintaining and advancing the technical skill and productivity level of self and staff.
* May be asked to do any job in manufacturing to satisfy customer demand and support department needs.
* Complies with company handbooks and policies.
* Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

* Minimum 3 years of production supervision within an aggressively-used Lean (or similar continuous improvement) environment.
* Experience supervising within a cultural and language diverse organization
* Possesses high levels of: critical thinking, coordination, instructing, complex problem solving, equipment selection, quality control analysis, trouble shooting, judgment and decision making, time management, originality, leadership, attention to detail, confidentiality, and flexibility.
* Prior experience with Root-Cause analysis and Value-Stream Mapping.
* Demonstrable experience leading Kaizen events
* Demonstrated knowledge of SDS
* First responder, Spills, and Lead-Safety awareness training certifications are desired
* Basic, but solid, mathematic skills
* Experience researching new equipment opportunities for increased productivity
* Demonstrated understanding of product movement and warehousing operations
* Experience with sprayed paints/lacquers/powder coatings as well as metal etching a PLUS
* Experience in residential light fixture assembly/manufacturing a PLUS

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The associate must be able to frequently move, lift or carry heavy objects or materials up to 50 pounds. Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and color vision.

Work Conditions:

Work is performed in a manufacturing setting. There may be exposure to flying particles and airborne particles, chemicals, fumes, flammable materials, dirt, grease, and electrical equipment (Personal Protective Equipment provided). May work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to humid, hot, or cold conditions.
