Description
The Team Leader will be appointed by the Chief Executive as a Government Assessor under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009 (Section 128). This position reports to the Executive Manager, Financial Assistance and will:
- Perform functions as required under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009.
- Lead a multidisciplinary client-focused team in an evidence-based decision-making and results-driven environment.
- Drive motivation and innovation in team members.
- Manage processes and resources to ensure the timely assessment of applications for financial assistance in line with legislative intent.
- Manage a multi-disciplinary team in the achievement of results, operational outcomes, and performance measures, using sound business judgment and initiating and directing remedial action as required.
- Provide authoritative analysis and advice on complex operational process and policy issues relating to the administration of the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009 and provide leadership and direction to a multi-disciplinary team of administrative law decision-makers who undertake complex evidence-based decision-making in accordance with this Act.
- Undertake complex evidence-based decision-making relating to the provision of assistance under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009.
- Lead the delivery of business and service improvements through the effective and efficient management of Victim Assist resources, policies, processes, and systems.
- Identify broader factors, trends, and influences that may impact on output, work quality, and timeliness of services.
- Lead and motivate an organisational culture that values and rewards collaboration, innovation, performance, and the positive contributions that staff bring to Victim Assist and its clients.
- Build and maintain relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including other departmental business units and the non-government sector, to create opportunities and improvements ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of Victim Assist services.
- Assist the Executive Manager, Financial Assistance with financial, human resource, and performance management activities including establishment management, workforce and succession planning, coaching, mentoring, and staff supervision.
- Support others to embrace and operate within legislative and policy frameworks that guide everyday practice (demonstrates sound governance).
- Promote integrity in the management and use of processes and resources, ensuring others have the information and training they need for successful implementation (demonstrates sound governance).
- Analyse available data and support others to identify essential information to uncover the cause of issues (makes insightful decisions).
- Implement development plans with direct reports to address skill and knowledge gaps and enhance the capabilities they require for current and future roles (develops and mobilises talent).
- Encourage mutual exchange of ideas, data, and information, engaging partners as active contributors in program design (stimulates ideas and innovation).
