About RSC’s Technical Team
To discover more minerals in old ground and help build a low-emission future, RSC has built a team of Geoscientists and Geologists based in Perth WA, New Zealand and abroad. Successful applicants work closely with our team of explorationists, geoscientists and mineral resource modellers to deliver a superior service to clients. Roles may involve:
- Designing, managing and maintaining solutions to solve internal (RSC) and external (client) geoscience problems;
- Conducting geological fieldwork such as mapping, sample collection, logging and drilling supervision;
- Developing novel approaches to solve geoscience and data analytical problems; e.g. using machine learning and multivariate data analysis approaches;
- Expert knowledge in mineral systems and mineral system science;
- Conducting site visits for due diligence work, mineral resource estimation support and project evaluations;
- Validating and managing geological data from projects around the world;
- Reviewing quality assurance procedures and quality control data;
- Compiling GIS workspaces and preparing graphical outputs;
- Providing training for field teams and clients;
- Contributing to the writing, peer review and technical editing of reports;
- Project managing work programmes, budgets and reporting;
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders;
- Training and mentoring other RSC team members and RSC contractors;
- Carrying out RSC training and professional development programmes;
- Participating in client progress meetings;
- Leading multidisciplinary projects (e.g. geophysics, satellite-spectral, geochemical, mineralogical) at a variety of scales, from deposit to district; and
- Actively participating in business diversification, growth and development activities, identifying opportunities to support RSC clients.
Who we are looking for to join our Team:
At RSC we are focussed on your skills and experience. Typically, you will:
- have more than 5 years of diverse and relevant experience from exploration and mining to research and academia;
- demonstrate a robust understanding of mineral system science and multi-commodity experience;
- be familiar with microcharacterisation and interpreting datasets from the micro-to-macro scale;
- have a good understanding of public reporting such as JORC and NI43-101 requirements;
- have good knowledge and understanding of quality assurance and quality control systems and sampling theory;
- work effectively within a tight-knit team to pursue common goals in a collaborative environment;
- have exceptional writing skills, being able to report your written findings concisely, logically, and efficiently, whether for internal reporting or for peer-reviewed publication;
- have excellent knowledge of analytical geochemistry techniques;
- demonstrate leadership qualities and ability to manage direct reports well;
- hold an MSc or PhD in geology or a related subject;
- live and reside in Australia or New Zealand with working eligibility or living abroad and eligible for engagement on an independent contractor basis.
Experience in conducting site visits and signing off reports as a Competent Person or Qualified Person in accordance with the reporting codes is considered beneficial.
