DESCRIPTION/SYNOPSIS:
An established and growing mining services provider is looking for a Mechanical Engineer with a GCC to join their site team near Zeerust, in the North West. The company operates across opencast mining, drilling and blasting, bulk earthworks, and plant hire, requiring strong site-based engineering support. This hands-on role is ideal for a qualified Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with solid mining or heavy industrial site experience. Candidates from the Rustenburg or greater North West region will be well suited for this opportunity.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree (BEng/BSc or BTech)
- Government Certificate of Competency (GCC - Mines and Works) is essential
- Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in mining, plant, or heavy machinery environments
- Experience in open cast mining, drilling, blasting, or earthworks environments will be an advantage
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting, maintenance planning, and asset management skills
- Valid driver's license and willingness to be site-based
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all mechanical operations and engineering compliance on-site
- Ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation and maintenance of equipment
- Provide technical leadership for plant and mining machinery, including maintenance strategies
- Lead fault-finding, diagnostics, and breakdown recovery on critical assets
- Coordinate with operational and project teams across earthworks, plant hire, and blasting functions
- Manage inspections, compliance checks, and ensure alignment with MHSA and safety standards
- Report to senior operations management and ensure engineering KPIs are met
- Support and mentor artisans, technicians, and maintenance staff
