Base pay range

$43.83/hr - $43.83/hr



Provide assertive mental health care in the community, conducting biopsychosocial assessments and providing brief mental health interventions.

  • Mental Health Nurse or Psychologist or Occupational Therapist or Social Worker
  • HPA Level 2 (Commensurate with experience) + Salary packaging benefits (pay less tax)
  • Monday – Sunday shift work roster, with additional loading.
  • Full-time permanent role in Western Sydney

Headspace Early Psychosis, run by Uniting, provides early intervention and support for young people (aged 12-25) who are at risk of developing a first episode of psychosis, or those who are currently experiencing a first episode. Your role as a clinician in the Mobile Assessment Treatment Team (MATT) will involve providing assertive mental health care in the community, including conducting biopsychosocial assessments and providing brief mental health interventions.

This is a role that operates on a flexible shift-work roster. Additional pay loading is offered for evening (15% loading), and weekend (50% loading) shifts.

This role requires you to travel between different headspace location ( Mount Druitt, Penrith & Parramatta) including community and home visits.

MATT is a stable, fast-paced multi-disciplinary team, meaning great opportunity to work closely with other professional backgrounds (social workers, nurses, psychologists and doctors) and being exposed to different mental health presentations.Clinicians will be required to participate in on-call approximately 3-4 times a year, with additional remuneration.

Role Overview

The overall aims of clinical care within MATT service will include:

  • Assertive care in the community, conducting assessments, general mental health support, guidance and direction
  • The early detection of those young people who are experiencing, or are at risk of early psychosis or a first episode of psychosis by means of thorough assessment and consultation
  • Intervene early and effectively with young people at risk of a first episode of psychosis to prevent the onset of psychotic illness

Essential Criteria:

  • Approved tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline and eligibility for membership of AHPRA or the appropriate professional body
  • Demonstrated experience in the mental health sector with community health experience or understanding
  • Experience working with patients in an acute mental health setting
  • Experience with initiating and documenting mental health and bio-psycho-social assessments, understanding of short term psychosocial treatment for young people experiencing mental health difficulties
  • Knowledge and understanding of early psychosis and first episode psychosis rationale and principles
  • Ability to maintain the philosophy, standards, guidelines, policies and protocols of the EPPIC model
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence
